The Proposed Conference and Vocational Training Centre

Introduction

Tanga is one among 21 regions in Tanzania Mainland. Being the coastal region is neighbored by Indian Ocean in the East, Kilimanjaro region in North, Arusha region in the West and Coast region in the South, with a population of about 2 million.

Tanga city is the regional headquarter and gateway to the Indian Ocean in a steadily growing social, economical and cultural centre. The majority of the population is Muslim, and there are other un-reached people groups in need of Christ’s grace, hence illiteracy combating efforts and God’s revelation are needed especially in the areas of technology education including Computer Technology.

The Problem

Education to combat illiteracy and eradicate poverty is the greatest need amongst many Tanzanian citizens. It is our vision and mission to have a training centre at Duga area in Tanga city that will be holistic in nature, combining Biblical (Spiritual) and general education in vital areas of skills through vocational training.

The Solution

Bishop Dr. Jotham I. Mwakimage PhD. intends to build structures for the proposed Conference and Vocational Training Centre in Tanga city which will serve Christians from different denominational backgrounds. Bishop Jotham serves with the Assemblies of God. But currently serves as Chairman of the interdenominational fellowship of Pastors; the body that coordinates seminars and evangelistic rallies in Tanga Tanzania. As for now this ministry uses temporary hired facilities as the ministry is already in operation.

The Centre Will Serve As:

• A place to conduct training for Spiritual Leadership Seminars
• A training place to gain skills in vital areas of practical services to self-employ.
• The Auditorium (hall) will serve as a source of income to sustain other services through hiring the property for weddings, church seminars or company conference, youths and adults retreats etc.
• Employment will be one of the poverty reduction projects to both members of the church and city.

The Purpose

The purpose of the project is to be engaged in the Spiritual Welfare through training to preparing young men for service. The center will be a place where Christians from any denomination can use the premises for Spiritual Welfare. Also the center will provide room for the youths to gain higher education that will prepare them get into public services in the areas of their study.
